Tradeable points for a job in a listed health or education occupation
Under the points-based immigration system, to qualify for a Skilled Worker Visa, you must be awarded 70 points in total, 20 of which are tradeable points. One option of being awarded 20 tradeable points is where you have a job in a listed health or education occupation and a proposed salary which equals or exceeds a certain threshold.
If you are sponsored for a job in a listed health or education occupation, and if you have the below indicated salary, you will be awarded 20 tradeable points for a job in a listed health or education occupation and for your salary.
Check here whether your job is in a listed health or education occupation (see Table 2 of Appendix Skilled Occupations).
Your salary for the job for which you are being sponsored must equal or exceed £20,480 per year and, in the same time, the going rate for the occupation code. Check here what the going rate for the occupation code is.
The salary will be considered as explained in this post.
If you are being sponsored for a job in the occupation code “2231 Nurses” or “2232 Midwives”, your salary may be temporarily (for up to 8 months) less than the £20,480 per year required, if you have previously held Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration and you are undertaking an NMC-approved programme with a view to returning to practice, or if you are working towards NMC registration and you have passed the NMC’s English language requirements and Computer Based Test of competence, before the date of application and you will sit an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) to obtain NMC registration no later than 3 months after the stated job start date. You sponsor must confirm that you will stop being sponsored if you do not achieve full NMC registration within 8 months of the job start date. If you were last granted permission as a nurse or midwife on the Skilled Worker route, the 8 months is counted from the start date of the job you were sponsored to do in your most recent permission. During the 8 months or until you achieve NMC registration (if sooner), your salary must be at least equal to £19,737 (if your job is in England, Wales or Northern Ireland) or £20,700 (if your job is in Scotland).
No points will be awarded for a job in a listed health or education occupation and for your salary if you are not also being awarded the 20 mandatory points for sponsorship and the 20 mandatory points for a job at the appropriate skill level.
